What is Shoes For A Cause?

Shoes For A Cause began as a STEAM project for Ron Nober and his 8th grade class at Southampton Township Schools in New Jersey, USA. Originally it was a footwear prototype design STEAM project. However, Ron was inspired by the NFL "My Cause, My Cleats" campaign and in October of 2019 he was also inspired by a talk given by Dr. Jennifer Williams about the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ron quickly began to assess how he could bring the SDGs to this project and collaborated with Spencer Sharp, a teacher from Indiana, USA. Spence mentioned auctioning off the student's shoe prototypes and Ron got to work on creating a website and ideas for auctioning. Together with students they decided the shoe auction would raise money for SDG related charities. In 2020 the student's SDG shoe prototypes were first auctioned off and "Shoes For A Cause" was born raising nearly $500 for charity. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, "Shoes For A Cause" was sidelined for a year, but now we are back and ready to begin again!
